Newly capped England international Ramsdale played his first Arsenal game during the Carabao Cup second round clash at English Championship side West Brom and he managed to keep a clean sheet on the way to the 6-0 thumping of the Baggies thanks to the goals from club skipper Pierre-EmerickAubameyang (three goals), Bukayo Saka, Nicholas Pepe and second half substitute Alexandre Lacazette.

Shay Given has been impressed with the performances of Ramsdale who made his debut for the Three Lions of England during the World Cup 2022 qualifying clash at San Marino in the European section. The 23-year-old Arsenal goalkeeper didn’t concede any goal as England thumped San Marino 10-0 to set a new record for the biggest win in their history. Tottenham Hotspur striker and England skipper Harry Kane scored four of the ten goals for the Euro 2020 finalist.

Former Derby County goalkeeping coach Shay Given talked about the Arsenal recruitment team in a chat with Ladbrokes at the launch of the 5-A-Side Bet on the Premier League clash between hosts Leicester City and Newcastle United on Sunday. According to him, Arsenal officials did well to spend over £20m on Ramsdale who had suffered relegation with Bournemouth and Sheffield United in each of the last two Premier League campaigns.

A lot of Arsenal fans didn’t approve of the signing but Ramsdale has been able to prove his doubters wrong and he’s one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League this season. He has kept six clean sheets in 13 Arsenal games in all competitions this season including five clean sheets in 12 Premier League games.
