NEWCASTLE SHOULD TARGET MBAPPE, HAALAND

Newcastle United legend Shay Given has told the new owners to target big names such as KylianMbappe and ErlingHaaland in the January transfer window.Shay Given talked about his former club and the transfer window while he was doing pre-match analysis for the Bein Sports ahead of the Premier League matchup between Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur at St. James Park.

Struggling Newcastle United played hosts to Spurs in their first game after the club’s takeover was officially approved. Shay Given and other Newcastle United fans are delighted with the £300m Saudi-led takeover of the club and it is almost certain that they will sign some quality players in the January transfer window.

Given told Bein Sports that Newcastle United should not limit themselves in the transfer window with the likes of Haaland and Mbappe set to become available in the coming months.

French World Cup winner Mbappe has a little over six months on his Paris Saint Germain (PSG) contract at the moment and he has already turned down several contract offers from the French Ligue 1 leaders.

Mbappe has struggled for goals in the colours of PSG this season as he has scored six goals and four assists in 16 games in all competitions. He has one goal in four Champions League games. Also, Mbappe has five goals plus four assists in eleven (11) league matches.

Haaland has scored more frequently in comparison to Mbappe this season though it must be pointed out that the PSG attacker played a major role in the UEFA Nations League title win for the French team. Haaland has nine goals plus three assists in just six league games. Norwegian striker Haaland is said to have a €70m release clause in his Borussia Dortmund contract, but it won’t be active until next summer. In total, Haaland has 13 goals and three assists for Dortmund this season.
