Shay Given says Jack Grealish is good enough to play for Manchester United

Former Aston Villa goalkeeper Shay Given believes there should be some truth to the speculation linking Jack Grealish with a move to Manchester United this summer. The midfielder has spent his entire career with the Villains but he has been touted to pursue a bigger challenge at the end of the campaign.

United are obviously deemed the favourites to secure his services and Given feels the 24-year-old is good enough to play for the Mancunian giants, he told Stadium Astro: “There’s so much press and media about Jack joining, there’s no smoke without fire. There must be something in the pipeline that he could be joining United. I’ve no clue what the fee’s going to be but I do think he’s good enough to play for a club like United. He wouldn’t look out of place in that team.”

Grealish has largely featured on the left side of the attack during the current campaign and he has proved a key performer for the west Midlands outfit with nine goals and eight assists across all competitions. Out of those, seven goals and six assists have come during the current campaign for the club, who are currently 17th on the table.

The Villains are presently only ahead of Watford by one goal difference. They are scheduled to face West Ham United on the road during the final matchday and may have to win the game to ensure their Premier League safety. Grealish has been valued at around £60m and Villa may stick with the asking price for the summer, suppose they are able to preserve their top-flight status for next season.

Aside from United, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have also been credited with an interest in the former England youth international. However, the duo don’t have the same financial power as United at the current point of time and may need to offload players to recoup funds for summer purchases.
